Custom Google Analytics Events in WordPress

Today we are going to learn how to integrate custom Google Analytics events in WordPress.

First of all, of course, you need a google analytics account and we will need a analytics plugin for WordPress. I recommend this – easy to setup

For example I will setup a component I have here.

All we need is to setup the _gaq.push method in the play function for example.

if(o.google_analytics_send_play_event=='on' && window._gaq && google_analytics_sent_play_event==false){
                    //if(window.console){ console.info( 'sent event'); }
                    window._gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'ZoomSounds Play', 'Play', 'zoomsounds play - '+cthis.attr('data-source')]);
                    google_analytics_sent_play_event = true;
                }

and now you can see that events from here will be tracked
