Tips and tricks

Stable Diffusion - Config for Realism

I would say generate 1-2 images to see if you like the settings. Than bigger batches to select the best. Also I would disable Hires.

πŸ”§ 1. Base Model Setup

  • Checkpoint: EpicRealism XL (SDXL-based)
  • Resolution (important):
    • Portrait: 832x1216 or 1024x1536
    • Full body: 1024x1792

πŸ‘‰ Why: SDXL performs best at higher native resolutions β†’ better facial structure and fewer artifacts.

πŸŽ›οΈ 2. Sampler Settings

βœ… Recommended (most stable realism)
  • Sampler: DPM++ 2M Karras
  • Steps: 25–35 (sweet spot ~30)
  • CFG Scale: 4.5 – 6

πŸ‘‰ Why:

  • Lower CFG = more natural, less β€œAI crispy skin”
  • DPM++ Karras = smooth gradients, better skin tones
βš–οΈ Alternative samplers
SamplerProsCons
DPM++ 2M KarrasBest overall realismSlightly slower
DPM++ SDE KarrasMore cinematicCan over-soften
Euler aFastMore artifacts

🧠 3. LoRA Usage (CRITICAL)

Typical config:

  • LoRA weight: 0.6 – 0.9

πŸ‘‰ Rules:

  • 0.6–0.7 β†’ subtle realism boost
  • 0.8–0.9 β†’ stronger style (risk of overfitting)
  • >1.0 β†’ often breaks anatomy

🚫 5. Negative Prompt (VERY IMPORTANT)

blurry, soft, low quality, bad anatomy, distorted face, extra fingers,
plastic skin, overexposed, oversaturated, CGI, render, 3d, cartoon

πŸ‘‰ Add:

smooth skin

β†’ prevents β€œInstagram filter face”

πŸ’‘ 6. Hires Fix / Upscaling

βœ… Use:
  • Hires fix: ON
  • Upscale: 1.5x – 2x
  • Denoising: 0.25 – 0.35
  • Upscaler: 4x-UltraSharp or R-ESRGAN 4x+

πŸ‘‰ Why:

  • Adds micro-detail (pores, fabric)
  • Keeps structure intact

🎯 1. ADetailer – BEST BASE CONFIG (Face)

Use this as your default for EpicRealism XL + LoRA:

πŸ”§ Detection
  • Model: face_yolov8n.pt (or mediapipe_face_full if you prefer softer detection)
  • Confidence threshold: 0.3 – 0.4
  • Mask min ratio: 0.01
  • Mask max ratio: 1.0

πŸŽ›οΈ Inpaint Settings
  • Denoising strength: 0.25 – 0.35 βœ… (very important)
  • Inpaint only masked: βœ… ON
  • Inpaint padding: 32 – 64
βœ‹ ADetailer #2 β€” Hands (optional but powerful)
Settings:
  • Model: hand_yolov8n.pt
  • Denoise: 0.2 – 0.3
  • Steps: 15–20
Prompt:
realistic hands, correct anatomy, five fingers, natural skin texture

πŸ‘‰ Fixes:

  • extra fingers
  • melted hands
🧍 ADetailer #3 β€” Body (optional)
  • Model: person_yolov8n.pt
  • Denoise: 0.2 – 0.25

πŸ‘‰ Use ONLY if:

  • body looks soft or distorted

βœ… 1. Best ADetailer Settings (for THIS type of image)

πŸ‘€ Face ADetailer
Detection model: face_yolov8n.pt
Confidence: 0.3Denoising strength: 0.22 – 0.28 ← LOWER than usual
Steps: 18–22
CFG: 4 – 4.5Inpaint only masked: ON
Padding: 32
Optional Prompt: natural skin texture, visible pores, subtle imperfections,
soft skin transitions, realistic eyes, natural lips

🧠 2. Why LOWER denoise here?

This image has:

  • flash lighting
  • already sharp face
  • strong highlights

πŸ‘‰ If you use:

Denoise 0.35+

You’ll get:

  • ❌ plastic skin
  • ❌ face reshaped
  • ❌ over-smoothing
If eyes look crossed

πŸ”§ 1. FIRST: fix your core settings

Most common cause:
CFG too high OR LoRA too strong
βœ… Try this baseline:
LoRA: 0.6 – 0.7
CFG: 4.5 – 5
Steps: 28–32

πŸ‘‰ If eyes are crossed:

LOWER CFG first (e.g. 5 β†’ 4.5)

🧠 2. Add eye-specific guidance (this is HUGE)

Add this to your prompt:

symmetrical eyes, aligned pupils, looking in the same direction, natural gaze, focused eyes

🚫 Optional (if still happening)

You can reinforce with negative prompt:

 cross-eyed, misaligned pupils

πŸ”₯ 3. Use ADetailer (best fix)

If you’re already using it:

βœ… Recommended ADetailer settings:
Model: face_yolov8n.pt
Denoise: 0.25 – 0.35
CFG: 4 – 4.5
Steps: 15–20

πŸ‘‰ Why:

  • low denoise = fixes eyes without changing face
  • lower CFG = avoids over-sharpening

⚠️ 4. Watch your angle

Crossed eyes happen more when:

model tries to β€œguess” eye direction

face is slightly turned
